Vehicle Protection Plans

You are legally required to have collision insurance. Yet, did you know that less than 10 percent of all collision insurance policyholders actually use their insurance plan?

A Vehicle Protection Plan (often incorrectly referred to as an “Extended Auto Warranty”) is the second part of the equation to having full protection on your vehicle.

The best coverage you can get! Platinum Plus coverage is typically only available to newer cars with less than 60,000 miles on them at the time the policy is purchased. This type of policy is sometimes (and incorrectly) called “bumper to bumper” or “new car coverage,” due to the fact that it covers the vast majority of all components of the vehicle. The policy covers so many components, that on the policy itself it only lists what is NOT covered, as there are literally thousands of parts that are! Each of our administrators offer Platinum Plus coverage policies.

Second best level of coverage available! Gold Plus coverage plans cover a vast majority of components on the vehicle. These policies are generally available on vehicles with less than 80,000 miles on them. Below is a list of some of the components that are covered under these plans (be advised, this is just a general list, please refer to your specific protection plan for what is actually covered)

Covering all of the major components, and more! A powertrain enhanced policy covers all of the major components of the vehicle and a few other major components as well. While it doesn’t cover everything that a comprehensive or exclusionary policy gets, it still covers the vast majority of all of the “big ticket” items. The powertrain enhanced policies are generally available to all vehicles with less than 120,000 miles on them. Be advised, this is just a general list—please refer to your specific protection plan for what is actually covered

ENGINE

The following parts are covered: pistons, piston rings, crankshaft and main bearings, connecting rods and rod bearings, camshaft and camshaft bearings, timing chain and timing gears, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, oil pump, push rods, rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, rocker arm shafts and water pump. The engine block and/or cylinder heads are also covered if the above-listed parts cause a Breakdown of the engine block and/or cylinder heads.

TRANSMISSION

All internally lubricated parts of Manual or Automatic Transmissions, including oil pump, drums, planetaries, sun gear and shell, shafts, bearings, side gears, carrier pinion gear, ring gear, shift rail, forks, synchronizers, and Torque Converter. Breakdown of the Transmission/Transaxle case is covered only if caused by the failure of an internally lubricated covered part.

TRANSFER CASE

All internally lubricated parts of the 4 x 4 Transfer Case. Breakdown of the Transfer Case is covered if caused by the failure of an internally lubricated part.

DRIVE AXLES

All internally lubricated parts. Drive axle housing is also covered if damage is caused by Breakdown of an internally lubricated part.

AC & HEATING

Condenser, compressor, and evaporator. Orifice Tube and Accumulator/Receiver Dryer is also covered if required in connection with the repair of a covered part listed above.

COOLING

Cooling Fan; Cooling Fan motors; and fan clutch.

SEALS & GASKETS

Leaking seals and gaskets on any covered part listed above (note: minor loss of fluid or seepage is considered normal and is not considered a Mechanical Breakdown).

Our Powertain Plus coverage plan covers the parts at highest risk for breakdown, but like our Powertrain Enhanced plans, it covers more. In addition to covering the powertrain, it also covers important electrical items such as the alternator and starter, and covers your air conditioning unit. Seals and gaskets are also covered in connection with a covered repair.
